PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS AND TEACHERS PERFORMANCE IN OGOJA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF CROSS RIVER STATE

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of principals‗ administrative skills and teachers performance in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, one research question and one hypotheses guided the study, descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised of 245 teachers, 130 teachers were randomly selected as the sample of the study. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire tagged "Principals‗ Administrative Skills and Teachers Performance" (PASTP), validated by experts in measurement and evaluation and educational management University of Calabar using face and content validity. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was calculated using cronbach Alpha method ranging from 0.70 - 0.82, means and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while independent T-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance, the finding of the study show that there is a great extent to which principals used teamwork for teachers performance. Based on the findings, it was recommended that government should assist in the building of a supportive school networks among teachers and school administrators to develop cooperative and team spirit between teachers and their principals.
