ASSESSMENT OF CAREGIVERS PSYCHO-SOCIO SUPPORT ON SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF PRE-SCHOOLERS IN OBIO-AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF RIVERS STATE

Abstract


The study was aimed at assessing the Caregivers Psycho-Socio Support of nursery Pupils in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The aim of the study was to assess the level of caregiver support of nursery school pupils. Which three research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design with a population of….which a sample of 250 nursery pupils were drawn using simple random sampling technique. Data collection was done using questionnaire that had been validated and subjected to reliability. The questionnaire yielded a Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of 0.79, 0.80, and 0.82 for each variable. The study employed the descriptive statistics to analyze the data. The descriptive statistics was used to answer the research questions mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that, caregivers’ psycho-social support of taking turn, sharing and gender plays a significant role in their academic
environment. The study gave some recommendation that, the government should endeavour to evaluate the caregivers to know the level of their friendliness with children before employment; due to it significant role to the children and the caregivers of a school should always be someone who is educated, because their role practically involves teaching of the children in some way.
