TEACHERS VARIABLES AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN MATHEMATICS IN OBIO/AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF RIVERS STATE

Abstract


This research work focused on teacher’s variables and academic performance of public primary school pupils in mathematics in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study, ten (10) teachers were sampled and 345 primary school pupils academic performance were generated through the use of a proforma. A questionnaire was designed to collect the demographic information of the teacher such as academic qualification, teaching experience among others. Two research questions was raised with two hypotheses, findings revealed that there is a significant influence of teacher’s variables on the academic performance of public primary school pupils in mathematics in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
