DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN MATHEMATICS IN OGBOMOSO NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OYO STATE

Abstract


There has been growing recognition of the prevalence of domestic violence in our society and the world in general. The exposure of children to violence at home affects their academic performance and socialization in school. The study investigates domestic violence and academic performance. The research adopted a descriptive survey design; the target population was public primary school pupils in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State. A questionnaire was constructed by the researcher to elicit response from one hundred and ninety eight (198) selected respondents. Two research questions were raised with two hypotheses tested and analyzed. The findings show that there is a significant effect of domestic violence on primary school pupil’s mathematics performance in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State
