CHILD REARING PRACTICES AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE NURSERY THREE (3) SCHOOL CHILD IN EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICTS OF EDO STATE.

Abstract


This study examined child rearing practices and social development of Nursery school children in Edo South Senatorial district in Edo State. To achieve this purpose, a correlation design was adopted. The targeted population for the study was 12,929.Sample size of 2458 (20%) were drawn through stratified random sampling technique. A 20 items questionnaire on child rearing practices and a 16 items rating scale on social development for data collection was developed by the researcher. The instrument was scored on the number of mark which was awarded to each items of the research question. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The research questions were analysed in table, using Pearson product moment correlation while The null hypotheses were tested at 0.5 level of significance and were analysed using summary of regression test. The result of the finding showed that child rearing practise has significant influence on social development of nursery children in Edo South Senatorial District in Edo State.
